Description
This course will present an overview of the Unix operating system including a brief history and description, basic features and frequently used commands, the file system, shell programming, and filters.    

Goals and Objectives
  • To understand the basic UNIX file and directory structure
  • To understand the UNIX kernel and shell characteristics
  • To be able to work with basic UNIX commands
  • To be able to work with the UNIX editors
  • To understand the basics of shell scripting and be able to write simple scripts

There are no prerequisites.
