Description

The primary goal of this course is to give students a basic introduction to the study of sport psychology. From this course you will gain a much deeper understanding of yourself as a player (past or present), or as a spectator watching athletes excel or fail. You will gain a better understanding of coaches and some reasoning behind the tactics they implement on their players. Lastly my hope is that you gain an appreciation for the study of sport in the field of psychology as well as being able to walk away from this course with new information that you will somehow be able to apply to your life down the road long after your time as an undergraduate student has passed.


Goals and Objectives
  • Student will master the body of knowledge associated with the discipline of sport psychology.
  • Student will contribute to class discussion boards on sport psychology topics.
  • Student will be familiar with the psychological concepts and phenomenon as outlined on the syllabus.
  • Student will read and understand research on these psychological concepts and phenomenon.
  • Students will be able to apply the concepts.
  • Students will think critically about the discrepancies between fellow student comments.
  • Students will understand the impact of the values of sports psychology.
