TS351 Microcomputer Hardware

Credits : 4

Description

This course will concentrate on the internal hardware components of the modern-day PC.  It will take an in depth look at advanced computer maintenance techniques and will examine the theoretical concepts underlying hardware functions.  Students will learn how to identify hardware components along with studying different troubleshooting strategies.  They will learn the importance of safety precautions when working with internal components of the PC.  There will also be some discussion of networking and software as it pertains to the hardware functionality of the PC.  In addition, the course covers many topics related to the hardware structure of dedicated servers in current networking systems.


Goals and Objectives

Upon finishing this course, the student will have a firm understanding of the following:

 

  • The physical structure of the microcomputer
  • The functioning of the various microcomputer components
  • How to troubleshoot microcomputer hardware
  • How to add additional accessories to a microcomputer

  • MAT125 - Technical Math I
