TS333 End-User Information Systems

Description
This course covers the planning, designing, implementation and evaluation stages of end-user information systems development with particular emphasis upon employee and work group interactions. The ability to define and solve business end-user related systems, especially through ergonomics and feasibility studies, is emphasized. A “systems” mode of thinking covering end-user issues is emphasized throughout the course. In addition to the study of integration of software and hardware into the work environment, attention will be given to specific strategies affecting security issues and help desk responsibilities.
Goals and Objectives
- Discuss future trends and directions of End-User Information Systems
- Demonstrate an understanding of End-User Information Systems by designing end-user information systems and explain how they fit into an overall enterprise information system infrastructure
- Demonstrate an understanding of developments in information technologies for organizations by describing the most common computing platforms and applications in use today and trends in software and hardware developments
- Demonstrate an understanding of computer support tools for managerial personnel by identifying appropriate applications for calendar-software, voice mail, information managers, teleconferencing, GroupWare and Project management
- Demonstrate an understanding of how end-user and office management systems affect job and work process design by identifying various approaches to job and work process design and explain how end-user computing introduces changes at the organizational, workgroup, and individual levels
