Application Information for
Verizon Next Step Graduates

If you graduated from the Verizon Next Step Program with an A.A.S. degree in a technical subject, you may apply to Pace University for the Accelerated BS in Professional Technology Studies with a Telecommunications Concentration. However, since your Associates degree is technical in nature, you may need to do additional course work in order to fulfill the 32 credit liberal arts requirement for entry into the B.S. Program. Generally, between 4 and 8 credits of liberal arts courses are needed. Any deficiency in liberal arts credits for entry into the B.S. in Professional Technology Studies, Telecommuncations Concentration can be fulfilled by taking online courses through the Pace NACTEL Program.

The prerequisites for entry into the Program are as follows:

To be accepted into this degree program:

  • A student must have at least 3 years of full-time experience or the equivalent.
  • A student must have successfully earned at least 64 college credits with a minimum QPA of 2.5 from a regionally accredited institution or a combination of 64 credits obtained through Pace Experiential Learning credits, CLEP, and college credits. There will be a review of the student's transcript to ensure no duplication of credit.
  • A student who has earned the A.A. or A.S. will be eligible to apply all credits toward the prerequisite 64 credits. All others will have transcripts reviewed to ensure successful completion of a minimum of 32 Liberal Arts and Sciences credits. To be eligible to apply credits earned in an AAS degree, a student must complete the minimum Liberal Arts requirement. For example, to complete this requirement the Next Step students will take a Liberal Arts elective during their first term at Pace University.
  • A student must have credit for at least one credit-bearing college-level writing course or demonstration of writing ability by examination provided by Pace University.
  • A student must complete Technical Math ( MAT 125 or its equivalent) and Computer Applications ( AIT 107 or its equivalent).
  • A student must have two credit bearing college level telecommunication courses ( AIT 170: Telecommunications I or AIT 109: Broadband Essentials and AIT 235: Telecommunications II or AIT233: Wireless LANs or equivalents) and one credit bearing electronics course ( AIT 111: AC/DC Electrical Circuits or equivalent).
  • Students are required to complete OSO: Online Student Orientation at Pace prior to the first term.
