The proceeds from this event, which will be held at The Bank of New York Mellon, will directly benefit students in the Seidenberg School through funding scholarships and key initiatives.

The Leadership and Service in Technology Award is presented annually to an individual who has exhibited outstanding leadership in the field of technology, innovation in the application of technology to serve people, and commitment to community service and education. Mr. Simon's professional accomplishments and efforts to promote education to change people's lives embody the spirit of this honor.

Joe Simon joined Viacom in 1998. In his current role as senior vice president and CIO, he is responsible for the design, implementation, and continued successful operation of technology programs throughout the company's worldwide offices. Mr. Simon has effectively created and supported an advanced technological infrastructure to support the increasingly complex business during a period of intense growth. Prior to joining the organization, he spent nine years as a principal at Booz, Allen and Hamilton, focusing on the media sector. He also held executive positions at Reader's Digest and for various business concerns in New Zealand and India.

Viacom, the world's leading entertainment content company, has penetrated all areas of media including broadcast and cable television, radio, outdoor advertising, and online communications. With programming that appeals to a wide range of audiences across virtually all media, the company is a leader in providing entertainment, news, sports, music, and comedy. Viacom's well-known brands include MTV, Nickelodeon, Paramount Pictures, and Comedy Central, among others.

Steve I. Cooper is a founding partner of The Strativest Group, a firm focused on identifying emerging technologies applicable to homeland security and emergency response and preparedness. Previously, he served as senior vice president and CIO of the American Red Cross, where he was responsible for the information technology assets of the Red Cross and leveraging them to support the humanitarian organization's 35,000 employees and the 300 million Americans it serves. In 2003, Mr. Cooper was appointed the first CIO of the Department of Homeland Security by former President George W. Bush.

Named one of the Top 100 CIOs in America by CIO Insight in 2007 and listed by The Washington Post as "One of the Five to Watch" while serving in the White House, Mr. Cooper will draw from his vast experience to present the evening's key note address.

Brian Cosgrove, senior vice president of Jeff Barker Productions, Inc., and Dennis Goett, CFO of CrossRoads Strategy Group, Inc., both Seidenberg Advisory Board members, are serving as co-chairs.

The annual Award Reception serves as the primary fund-raiser and networking event for the school. It has always enjoyed strong support from technology companies and IT professionals in the tri-state area. All proceeds from the event are used to support scholarships and various new initiatives. Each year, several of our students who rely on financial aid to complete their studies, are awarded scholarships from this fund.
