Program Structure

You will earn the required 48 credits through various modes of study:

  • Monthly on-campus weekend residencies
  • Asynchronous study via Internet technologies
    Through discussion forums, chat sessions, an active white board and email, you will study remotely and conveniently as you choose the time and place that work best for you

Curriculum

Our comprehensive curriculum will help you sharpen your problem-solving and critical-thinking skills, develop theoretical perspectives and systematic approaches, and improve your product development ability.

With minimal disruption to your career and maximum support from our faculty and staff, you will be able to complete the program within 3-4 years. Here is how:

  • During the 1st year, you will explore the emerging technologies of computer science, information technology, software engineering, telecommunications and networking
  • In the 2nd year, you will begin elective studying in areas of emerging information technology that support your proposed dissertation research
  • The 3rd year will involve the researching and writing of the dissertation

The Dissertation

The dissertation is what distinguishes the doctorate from other graduate degrees.
It is an extraordinary opportunity to:

  • advance your knowledge
  • improve your professional practice
  • contribute to the field of computing
  • discover, establish and extend your field of study

You will begin research during the 1st semester of study with the guidance of an advisor and through the research seminar. Research methods may include controlled experiments, project development, empirical studies and theoretical analyses.

Facilities

Intensive on-campus residency will take place at the Graduate Center in White Plains, NY, with state-of-the-art classrooms, computing facilities and library access. All students and faculty have full Internet access in order to retrieve communications and course materials to pursue research.
