This is an introductory course designed to provide students with a basic orientation to computer hardware and to teach the implementation of software applications in telecommunications. Students will use various software packages to create documents, spreadsheets, graphs, and databases and will use the knowledge gained to solve problems and transfer information via electronic media. This course requires Microsoft Office 2016 (available from the University).

Goals and Objectives
    • To learn the fundamentals of document management.
    • To become familiar with various software packages including Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Power Point to create and edit text documents, spreadsheets, databases, and presentations.
    • To demonstrate mastery of skills and use telecommunications vocabulary and concepts to complete word processing, spreadsheet, database and presentation projects.
    • To use Word to create, edit, and print basic business documents.
    • To use and manipulate Excel in order to create, edit, and print basic spreadsheets as well as create, format, and print charts.
    •   To learn about the structure and functions of a database application.
    • To use Access to create databases, creating, editing, and querying tables as well as creating forms and reports.
    • To use PowerPoint to create basic slide show presentations.
    • To establish and maintain contact with instructors and classmates through a combination of email and discussion board interaction
